Michael Myers

John Carpenter’s Halloween  (1978) is credited with having resurrected the “slasher” subgenre that defined the ensuing decade. Little did anyone know that when Judith Myers met her demise  three years after Norman Bates made showers the most unpopular part of hygiene, John Carpenter and Debra Hill (from Haddonfield, NJ) would launch a mythology that would spawn 8 sequels with no signs of slowing down. This October, we will provide weekly updates on Instagram in the case formulation of The Shape. Check out my IG page ThePsychiatristsLens for our weekly analysis to find out why Michael Myers continues to creep into our psyche every Halloween[!
